Every year we look forward to summer vacations, camping, family reunions, picnics, and the holidays or celebrations. Summertime brings fires and injuries due to fireworks and outdoor cooking. 

We encourage summer fire safety in your community with these free tips:

1. Know how to prevent a burn while you enjoy outdoor activity this summer.
2. Wear short sleeves or roll them up when cooking on the grill.
3. Use long-handled barbecue tools
4. Keep a 3-foot safe zone around grills, fire pits, and campfires.
5. Attend public fireworks displays so it leaves the lighting to the professionals.
6. Ensure children are not near fireworks, fires, or grill cooking without adult supervision.
7. Propane and charcoal BBQ grills should be used outdoors only.
8. Keep children and pets at least three feet from the grill area.
9. Keep your grill clean by removing grease buildup.
10. Never leave your grill unattended.
11. Always make sure your gas grill lid is open before lighting it.
